It was fun to meet Jennifer and taste her treats. I'm not a big sweets fan, but hers are more natural with the organic ingredients and extra effort she puts into them. She has many subtle flavors and textures that make each bite fulfilling and adventurous at the same time.

There were a couple of items (such as the raspberry topped cherry cream mini-cheesecake cup) where I just closed my eyes to avoid being distracted so I could concentrate on the senses that were being tantalized, namely my taste buds. The apple crumble was also one of my favorites, but the raspberries that were precisely placed on top of this treat looked too perfect to be real, so before you bit into it you had to admire its natural beauty.

The coffee made for a natural balance or contrast of flavors. We enjoyed the whole experience, especially doing this in a relaxing setting with such great hosts.

Thanks again David and Kim for the fun evening. Looking forward to the next tasting event.

Jin's pastry artistry could not be described better than what you just said, Brian. Awesomely delicious and head and shoulders above what normally passes for pastry or desserts. Thanks, we sure appreciate it when you and Darla join these things...for both your thoughtful involvement and appreciation for this sort of thing as well as for your good company.

My apologies to Jennifer for not describing the raspberry treat as nicely and accurately as she was able to in her presentation. We were able to sample many tasty treats and I couldn't recall all of the details, but I'm sure that the mini-cups with the raspberry on top had a sweet dark cherry buttercream or something like that for filling and would not be categorized as a cheesecake.

Sorry Jennifer if I made you cringe by my layman's descriptions. It was all "out of this world" and something that only a true professional pastry artist, such as yourself, could describe so accurately. I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that, but using cheesecake within the description seems to belittle the pastry to a more common item, and it was nothing close to that.

Perhaps you could give us a good description of this item and corrects my poor one, but please be kind. :-)

David:
Thanks for your awesome intro last night! (I can't recall exactly... but something like...) "Best pastry chef. Ever. In the history of, like, forever... the world!"

hee! :-D lol.

BUT, next time ask me to pose please!!! You caught me with my eyes shut! I thought you were taking pics of the pastries (no, not the cupcakes)!

So, like I said at Kim's blog, you T'rivers peeps put on an incredible tasting event. Thumbs up.

Brian:
Actually, you were very correct the first time! That was indeed a cheesecake, however, the flavours are so bold because the ingredients are so few. Real Cream cheese, organic sugar, whole eggs & finely chopped dark sweet cherries. That's it!

Thanks so much for the great review too! You rock! This made me melt:
"I just closed my eyes to avoid being distracted so I could concentrate on the senses that were being tantalized, namely my taste buds."
This too,
"the raspberries that were precisely placed on top of this treat looked too perfect to be real, so before you bit into it you had to admire its natural beauty.
